As of this month, Abigail and I have been officially published short-story authors for an entire year (Abigail has been officially published as a poet for even longer). Last February we completed our first collection of short stories and titled it What It All Means: The Red Collection. This anthology holds eight stories that we worked on for some time before self-publishing the first edition through Amazon.com. The stories explore the meanings and representations of the color red: love, sacrifice, guilt, honor, hate, and blood. What does it mean for two lovers to part for love? What does it mean for a girl who holds on to the past to finally grow up? What does it mean for a grandfather to lose the last family he has? What does it take to change a life? What happens when the things someone holds most dear disappear? How do they change? Do they live or do they die? This is the Red Collection. Of course this is only the beginning of Abigail and my adventures. We are currently writing and editing stories for the next collection, and we plan on eventually creating a Rainbow of collections, each exploring various topics and colors. Consider enjoying these stories with a cup of coffee. Ponder the lives of people who find themselves at a turning point in their lives. What choices would you make? What comes to mind when you think of the color red? And do you have real life stories that would fit into such a collection? We are always looking for ideas and people to read our drafts. Let us know if you're interested in reading early versions and remember to sign up for our quarterly newsletter.
